just throwing this out as an idea...

cutoff date roughly nov 1st. Enough time for anyone that wants to get caught up, yeah?

Maybe we can convince Awed Job to serve as a mail drop and perhaps do another vid of delivery to somewhere like Simpson?

That'd give enough time for people like me (that are notoriously crappy at mailing things) and some slop with enough time for a thanksgiving (and more importantly, cold weather approaching) delivery.

Just a thought to consider.

I've been doing some asking around my school and the committees set up in most districts are approachable.

One or two on the committee to give good buzz is generally enough to sway them all because nobody wants to plan these things.

It hit me that we could do this. Offer an introduction to net 2.0 and then back it up with long term (say three months or so) support online and then provide feedback based up the usage we track.

That usage would be proof of success and we would have data to create viable buzz.

Still have to find out what they normally pay. If it's crap then it not be worth anyone's while to be on call for possibly cranky and certainly clueless noobs to everything.

Still, I think if we wanted to test it out, of course after fleshing it out more, I would be willing to try and convince the people at my school to give us a shot.

Oh crap, I said I was going to grade papers and now I have to do that! What the hecks am I doing here!?

My parents sent me this one. A couple bad puns involved, but a rather clever parable:

Homer was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young layers (hens) called 'pullets,' and 10 roosters to fertilize the eggs. He kept records, and any rooster not performing went into the soup pot and was replaced.

This took a lot of time, so he bought some tiny bells and attached them to his roosters. Each bell had a different tone, so he could tell from a distance which rooster was performing. Now he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report by just listening to the bells.

Homer's favorite rooster, old Butch, was a very fine specimen , but one morning he noticed old Butch's bell hadn't rung at all! When he went to investigate, he saw the other roosters were busy chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing, but the pullets, hearing the roosters coming, could run for cover.

To Homer's amazement, old Butch had his bell in his beak, so it couldn't ring. He'd sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one. Homer was so proud of old Butch, he entered him in the County Fair and he became an overnight sensation among the judges.

The result was the judges not only awarded old Butch the No-Bell Piece Prize, but they also awarded him the Pulletsurprise as well.

Clearly old Butch was a politician in the making. Who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the most highly coveted awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the populace and screwing them when they weren't paying attention.

Vote carefully this year...the bells are not always audible.

I've been offline for a while, because I have been hiking in British Columbia and the Candian Rockies for the last 8 weeks.

But after that I'm heading to New Yorck to experience some big city life again. I'll be there on a weekend, arriving on Thu night, Sep 25. Are there any fellows from the City still around here that might want to show me a good place for dinner, drink or dance? Just a hint on where to go is highly appreciated - if you'd meet up with me this would be truly awesome! Otherwise I'd have to stick to random contacts I'll meet at the hostel.
